Caravan are considered one of the primary founders of what became known as the 'Canterbury
Scene'. They were formed in 1968 by Pye Hastings (guitar), Dave Sinclair (keyboards),
Richard Sinclair (bass/vocals) and Richard Coghlan (drums). A few years later Geoffrey
Richardson joined, playing viola, and over the years the inevitable line-up changes
occurred, most notably Jim Leverton taking over on bass guitar.
They have released a string of albums despite a few career breaks, touring occasionally,
now with Jan Schellhaas on keyboards.
