Renaissance

A Bit About The Band

The Renaissance history has been known to confuse people! Formed at the end of the 60s by Keith Relf and Jim McCarty of The Yardbirds, and including Keith's sister Jane on vocals and John Hawken on keyboards, they initially recorded two albums, latterly involving Michael Dunford. Then a few line changes occurred and by the time of the next album in 1973 all the original members had gone.

The name, however, stayed the same and the 'classic' line-up of Annie Haslam (vocals), Michael Dunford (guitars) Jon Camp (bass), John Tout (keyboards) and Terry Sullivan (drums) went on to record a handful of highly successful albums to great acclaim, with poetess Betty Thatcher contributing significantly to the lyrics.

In the 80s the band 'lost their way' to quote Annie Haslam in 2015, and a number of solo albums were recorded by Annie before a short reformation and album in 2001. This was enough though for a new Renaissance to be born, with touring in the USA

The band returned to the UK in 2015 for a tour in support of their 2013 album, with Haslam on vocals, Rave Tesar and Tom Brislin (keyboards), Mark Lambert (guitar), Frank Pagano (drums) and Leo Traversa (bass).
