A Bit About The Band

The band formed in 1969 and have had an evolving membership, although vocalist Maddy Prior is best known and has been involved throughout most of their history, along with vocalist/voilinist Peter Knight who was an almost constant member from, 1970-2013 and bass player Rick Kemp who joined in 1972. The critical violin role is now filled by classically trained Jessie May Smart.They have released over 20 studio albums in the folk genre, some of which have achieved significant commercial success, mixing traditional music with their own compositions.
