A Bit About The Band
Square Wild are a Manchester based band formed by vocalist/guitarist Lucy Shevchuk
and drummer Tomos Cooper, with Jack Vallance playing lead guitar. Early bass player
Paul Mooney left to be replaced temporarily by Robyn Berry, before they recruited
Rob Palmer-Fenney to the role and with this line-up they stormed the 2019 Cambridge
rock Festival main stage. Rob decided to leave during the Covid pandemic to be replaced
temporarily by Luke Percy and then by Benedict Rhodes. In 2023 they announced a second
option for lead guitar in Mike Grubert, as Jack wanted to pursue other options, but
with only one or other playing any gig.
They play a broad range of styles from classic rock and prog with a bluesy ska influence,
but always concentrating on great hooks and lyrical subject matter. If a true New
Wave Of British Classic Rock comes to pass, they'll be ahead of the game!
